Noa Hulday is a dancer, choreographer and poet based in Berlin. Her work weaves together movement, video and sound, drawing on nature, landscapes and the textures of everyday life. Water runs through it: the movement of waves, moving between homes and countries, the history of her own moving body.
She was born in Israel and grew up in Loutraki, Greece, until the age of seven. The Greek language, the sea and Greek culture remain part of her identity and of her artistic research.
She trained in dance at the Katzir school in Rehovot, graduating with distinction, and continued as a dancer in the Israeli army’s outstanding dancers programme while studying in a dancers’ training course. In Israel she performed with Inbal Dance Theater and in the Batsheva Ensemble dancers’ creations, and co-created Be’adinut with Amit Zaretzki.
In Berlin she hosts Jam & Bread, a weekly contact improvisation jam at Lake Studios, and co-hosts the Midday Monday jam at Studio2. She is a bodyworker in the Ilan Lev method and Shiatsu, makes hand-poke tattoos, cooks for her community, and has organised Hebrew poetry readings in the city.
